I think this all depends on your personal style.
My personal favourites are “Have you thought about trying it this way …”, or “Why don’t you try …”
This allows people to feel they have participated in the decision, and helps them to think of variations possible.

Yes, but I hate when someone says “You might want to consider …”. I feel it’s condescending and transparent. I prefer a direct order. Is there another way of telling someone what to do other than either of these ways? How about a direct order with a little humor? I’m really interested it knowing how to do this.
