The Myth
Posted by admin on Dec 11, 2009
Have you ever said anything like … “When I have the time, I’ll …?”
I know I have.
A few years ago I decided the time would never be just right, so I started to do all those things I’d been putting off: learning scuba diving, trying sky diving, going home every year instead of every 5 years, starting an Internet Income Opportunity.
“Some Day” never arrives, it doesn’t exist.
All we have is today.
We’re looking for what Jeff Olson, in The Slight Edge, calls the quantum leap, the breakthrough. Well, this is a myth, pure and simple.
We’ve all heard the expression “Luck is preparedness meeting opportunity.” I prefer “Luck is, being prepared.” If we are prepared, the opportunities will present themselves.
By making good choices, performing consistent, repetitive actions, over time, toward our goals … this is what will ensure that we are prepared. This is how we create our own luck, and succeed in Direct Sales Marketing.
These repetitive actions will lead to the breakthrough we are all looking for.
Neither success, nor failure, are immediate, they both take time to manifest.
So, stop looking for that quantum leap and start creating it!
Thanks for your time. Now go and create your own luck!

Success Starts With A Penny
Posted by admin on Dec 10, 2009
I read an amazing story about a penny. I didn’t believe it could be true until I verified it for myself. Here’s how it goes …
What if you were given the choice between: a million dollars today; or a penny today that would double in value every day for 31 days? Which option would you choose?
If you were wise, you would choose the penny. Do the math for yourself, or watch the video below to see why.
The analogy put forth by Jeff Olson in The Slight Edge is that we have to start somewhere on our road to success, we are the penny.
To achieve our goals and dreams we don’t have to do extraordinary things, but we do have to do something. We have to get started. It’s no different if the goal is an Internet Income Opportunity in Direct Sales Marketing. There must be a start.
If our goal is to increase our knowledge, we would most likely start reading enlightening books. However, we can’t read everything at once; we can merely read one book at a time. What if we don’t have the time to read a new book every week, or even every month, should we just give up?
That would be one of those wrong choices that lead down the road to failure. Instead, why couldn’t we read ten to twenty pages per day, a penny’s worth? By the end of the year, we would have read at least one book, and most likely more. We would have increased our knowledge, a bit at a time, and would have knowledge we did not have before.
There’s nothing extraordinary been done, simply getting started, and now we’re on our way to achieving our goal.
Thanks for your time, and I hope you enjoyed the story of the penny.

The Second Secret to Success
Posted by admin on Dec 9, 2009
Success can be easy, if you know what you are doing.
The problem is that most people have no idea what they are doing, so success looks very illusive from that point of view.
The first secret to success is consistent, repetitive actions, done over time, toward our goals. The problem is that most of us just plain fail to do them.
What does it take to keep us going? If you think it is willpower, think again.
As Jeff Olson puts it in The Slight Edge: “will power is an artificial reward-and-punishment system.”
Hardly something we would want to buy into. It’s no wonder that willpower rarely works.
The second secret to success is TIME.
In previous posts we discussed the “now” world of instant gratification.
How there is really no such thing as an “overnight success.”
The key is making the right choices that over time produce the results we are looking for, such as success in Direct Sales Marketing.
The problem for most people is the lack of immediate feedback, but only time will allow us to see the results of our labors.
It is time to stop living in the past with our regrets, or dreaming about the future. What matters is now; the actions we take now that will secure our dreams for the future.
Thanks for your time.

Success Is Easy!
Posted by admin on Dec 8, 2009
Statistics show that only one to five percent of all people achieve their goals in life. Whether these goals are financial, spiritual, personal, professional, you name it, as a species the vast majority of us do not achieve our goals.
I don’t know about you, but I found this statistic to be shocking, and sad.
Why is this so? What are these one to five percent doing that the rest are not?
We’re not so different. We all get up in the morning, get dressed, eat breakfast, you get the point. But the successful people must be doing something different that leads them to success, while the failures are doing something else that is leading them to failure.
In my last entry I discussed the theory put forth my Jeff Olson in The Slight Edge.
Is it possible that the little, seemingly insignificant things we do repeatedly make that much of a difference?
The answer is YES!
Let’s look at health as an example:
When someone eats fried foods every day, with little or no physical activity, will their health fail today or tomorrow – probably not. Over time however, we have a different story.
When someone eats healthy foods, and exercises regularly, do they instantly appear to be healthy – again, not immediately. Over time, there will be a noticeable improvement in overall health.
The health of your wealth management is no different.
It’s the small things that, over time, have a compounding effect.
It’s the same for all aspects of our lives, including Direct Sales Marketing.
Success is a journey, a process, which requires time to manifest itself.
What we do on a daily basis is either working in our favour, or against us, the choice is ours, and ours alone. By the time we start to see results, we’ve been working at it for quite some time.
The good news is that we can start our road to success any time we choose. Getting started is usually the hardest part.
Statistics show that any activity we do consistently for three to six weeks becomes habit. All we have to do is start new habits.
Success is easy, once we put our minds to the task.
Thanks for your time.

Online Marketing – The Secret To Success
Posted by admin on Dec 7, 2009
Why is it that two people, given the same opportunities in life, have different results? One is successful, while the other is not. Is it luck, timing, fate?
Jeff Olson has a theory he calls The Slight Edge.
It’s easy to do. The problem is that most of us just don’t do it.
It’s just as easy to do nothing, and that’s where the problem lies.
There is more than enough information out there to show us how to do anything we want: lose weight; fly a plane; learn a new skill; direct sales marketing. You name it, there’s a program to teach it.
Lack of information is not the problem. Nor is lack of motivation.
We live in a world of instant gratification. We want it NOW.
The problem is, when there isn’t instant achievement of our goals, we give up and the goal is lost. It’s no different in an internet income opportunity.
The secret to success is persistence. Continuing to do the little things that, over time, produce the results we desire. It’s like compound interest!
“I have not failed. I’ve simply discovered ten thousand ways that don’t work.”
– Thomas Edison
Imagine how different our world would be if Thomas Edison had just given up.
It all starts with our philosophy.
“A positive philosophy turns into a positive attitude, which turns into positive actions, which turns into positive results, which turns into a positive lifestyle.”
Failure is inevitable. Don’t fight it, embrace it, and learn from it.
Successful people fail their way to the top!

Choose Wisely For Success
Posted by admin on Dec 4, 2009
The last of three stories, told by Jeff Olson in his book The Slight Edge, I will share with you now.
A wealthy man summoned his twin sons to his death bed to share three gifts.
The first gift is easy to give and never runs out – Love, which he had given them all their lives.
The second gift is easy to give, but not always easy to have – Money, which he possessed and could give them, but he could not guarantee that they would always have it.
The third gift is impossible to give, but can only be gained – Wisdom, which he offered by way of a choice: a million dollars today; or a penny today that will double in value every day for thirty one days. (I’ll share more about this one with you next week.)
Life is all about choices. We can choose to love and give love; we can choose to have or squander money; we can choose to learn as we pass through life or simply let life happen to us.
It’s no different for an Internet Income Opportunity or Direct Sales Marketing. There are choices to be made about the opportunity itself, the methods of marketing, and so on.
We all have choices. How do we know what to choose, and how do we know if we are making the right choices?
Join me in the coming weeks as I explore this further.

Success Learned From Two Frogs
Posted by admin on Dec 3, 2009
I’d like to share a funny little story about two frogs that I learned from Jeff Olson in his book The Slight Edge.
These two frogs, while out on an adventure, came upon a pail half full of cream and jumped in.
The cream was delicious, and they drank until they could drink no more.
When their thirst was quenched and it was time to leave they found that they could not get out of the pail.
After a time of futile attempts to escape the pail, one of the frogs decided that all was lost and gave up, drowning in the cream.
The remaining frog was determined to have a different fate, and continued to flail his legs in attempts to escape.
After a time, he too decided that all was lost and gave up. Much to his dismay, he did not sink and drown as his friend had.
Through all his attempts to escape, he had churned the cream to the point of forming butter. He could now perch on the butter and spring from the pail.
The lesson: never give up no matter how hopeless it seems. There is always hope.
Keep this in mind while operating your Direct Sales Marketing and Internet Income Opportunity. Success may not be immediate, but it does not mean that you will not be successful.
Patience and persistence are key.

Success Is Like The Water Hyacinth
Posted by admin on Dec 2, 2009
The road to success is much like the water hyacinth.
This prized plant expands in size by producing small runners that become daughter plants.
It continuously produces these daughter plants until it literally fills the space available to it.
This process can take a long time, and the extension of its borders is practically unnoticeable.
Over time, it fills all space available, until there is no water visible at all.
The road to success is very much like the water hyacinth.
As we head down the road to success, we do the little things required to bring us closer to our goals. This is how we succeed in wealth management .
On a daily basis, we do not see the progression toward success, but over time, these little things add up, and we reach our goals. Direct sales marketing is no different. We must continue to do the daily tasks that will compound over time.
Just because we cannot see something immediately, does not mean that we are not making progress. Patience and persistence are key.
Thanks for your time.

Weeks On The Edge
Posted by admin on Dec 1, 2009
In my last post I introduced you to a great little book, The Slight Edge, by Jeff Olson.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing my thoughts and interpretations of Mr. Olson’s theory, and how it can help you with your Internet Income Opportunity.
There are some great little stories to talk about that will make you stop and think.
The theory is quite simple: take simple steps and benefit from their compounded effect over time. Just the right touch for Direct Sales Marketing.
Sounds simple enough, but there’s more.
Please join me over the next few weeks to see where this takes us.
