Show Honest & Sincere Appreciation

Posted by admin on Sep 30, 2009

To continue the discussion relating to my reading of How to Win Friends & Influence People, by Dale Carnegie, the next principle discussed is – Give honest and sincere appreciation.

Again, this applies to an Online Marketing Business Opportunity as well as life in general.  The best way to develop and nurture any relationship is to offer appreciation and encouragement whenever possible.  Be honest and sincere, anything less is not genuine and will have the opposite effect to what you seek.

We’ve all been there; someone says thank-you for a job well done. How does that make us feel? I don’t know about you, but appreciation of a job well done encourages me to continue to do my best. Most likely I will do even more, knowing that more praise is sure to follow. And such praise in public makes us feel important, another human desire.

Some people mistake flattery for appreciation. Flattery is insincere, fake, and will eventually cause you more grief than you want. We can spot flattery a mile away. How does it make us feel? Personally, I find it insulting.

It is human nature to seek out appreciation, encouragement and praise. These forms of interaction lead to harmony and cooperation, the atmosphere that is most desired in a Internet Income Opportunity .

I have tried to apply my knowledge and understanding of these ideas in the operation of my Direct Sales Marketing.

Don’t Criticize, Condemn or Complain

Posted by admin on Sep 28, 2009

I am not sure why, but in our dealings with one another we often tend to judge each other.  Do we feel that we are perfect beings and therefore have the right to judge or interpret another’s behaviors or speech?  Can one person really have that right, outside of legal proceedings?  Do we condemn others to make ourselves feel better?  By making someone else feel small, does it make us feel big?

Try to remember the last time someone criticized you.  What was your reaction?  Chances are pretty good that you felt resentment at being judged.  Often times, people try to justify their actions, whether they were appropriate or not.  We are not necessarily logical beings, but rather emotional beings.

We all have a right to our opinions, I am not suggesting otherwise.  However, I do not believe that we must always express those opinions.  Before giving your opinion, ask yourself if your opinion is being asked, or are you offering something that has not been requested.  Be careful here that you are in fact being asked your opinion, and that they are not simply looking for verification.  i.e. Honey, does my butt look big in this outfit? … At this point your alarm bells should be going off!  Just because someone is asking you for the “truth”, does not mean that you should be brutally honest.  There are many ways to say the same thing.  Try to be tactful in your responses.

If we want to communicate better with each other, have more pleasant experiences in our interactions with one another, perhaps a better approach is to try to understand rather than judge.  Try to figure out why they do or say what they do. This will be very helpful in your Direct Sales Marketing.

Anyone can criticize, condemn and complain.  It takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving.

Education Is Crucial

Originally published in 1936, you might think that How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie would no longer be relevant so many years later. This is not the case here.

I believe that everyone who reads this book would agree with me in that everyone should read this book. It is as relevant today as it was in 1936, and maybe even more so.

We live in a “me” world that could use a bit of a kick toward a “we” world.

I am a perpetual student, always taking some course or other, reading self-improvement books, etc. To quote Dr. John G. Hibben, former president of Princeton University: “Education is the ability to meet life’s situations.”

My belief is – if you’re not growing, you’re dying.

Some have suggested that I have lived a charmed life. I would disagree; I simply attempt to do what I believe is the right thing to do in any given situation. Not just the right thing as it applies to me, but the right thing as it applies to the situation and all involved. This has worked very well for me in my Direct Sales Marketing.

“The great aim of education is not knowledge but action, a deep driving desire to learn, a vigorous determination to increase your ability to deal with people.” Herbert Spencer

Only knowledge that is used sticks in your mind. We must learn to practice what we learn if it is to be of any value.

I have tried to apply my knowledge and understanding of these ideas in the operation of my Online Marketing Business Opportunity. What is the best thing for the people I am associated with, as well as me? Win – Win, that is my goal.

Living My Dream!

Posted by admin on Sep 23, 2009

Many people spend their life dreaming of something different, something better, something more: a better job, better relationship, more money, more freedom, you get the point.

Dreaming is a pleasant way to pass your time, but if you are serious about achieving your dreams, you must do more than simply dream about them. You must take action to make them come true.

My motto is: If it’s worth dreaming, it’s worth doing!

I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want to feel is regret for those things in life that I desire, not having even tried to achieve them. Often times it is fear that holds us back, fear of the unknown. How does the saying go “there is nothing to fear but fear itself”.

My dream is to find a life with less stress and more freedom. I believe I have found my path with an Online Marketing Business Opportunity that will take me there.

What about you? What are your dreams? What are you doing to make your dreams reality?
